QuickEXIF for Manual Focusers v1.0

This Applescript app (so, Mac only) makes it very easy to customize lens name (Lens field), focal length (FocalLength field) and aperture (F-Number field) in EXIF metadata of one or more pictures. The main aim is making life easier for photographers using old manual focus lenses on their digital cameras.

The script is based on the great EXIFtool program by Phil Harvey: download and install it before using the script. (NB: the site is sometimes down, but the software can be found also elsewhere)

The way I choose to set data is very simple: you have to change the name of the app with the data you want to put on your files. Then you drop picture files on it, and metadata are chaged according to app name. If you have many lenses, you just duplicate the app, and set each name as you wish.

Here are some examples of application names:

• CZJ Sonnar 135/3.5 : sets the Lens field to CZJ Sonnar 135/3.5; no other fields are modified.
• CZJ Sonnar 135/3.5;135 : sets the Lens field to CZJ Sonnar 135/3.5 and the FocaLength field to 135 (i.e., the string after semicolon);
• CZJ Sonnar 135/3.5;135;7.1 : sets the Lens field to CZJ Sonnar 135/3.5, the FocaLength field to 135 (i.e., the string after first semicolon) and the F-Number field to 7.1 (i.e.m the string after second semicolon).

• Version 1.1: download a zip file containing two versions of the script: one writing metadata, directly on files, and a "safe" version.
• Version 1.0: download a zip file containing two versions of the script: one writing metadata, directly on files, and a "safe" version that duplicates every file before writing metadata (not that there is such need, but for anxious people is better).
